Both want a change from being ruled by an absolute ruler, both have economic instability from war debt, both have social inequality. And also, both started because of enlightenment ideas.

The American revolution didn't have the reign of terror.

A war between Austria, Prussia and France while Maria Theresa was on the throne. Prussia wanted more land and tried to take advantage of a woman on the throne. In the end all of the land was given back except for Silesia. This made Maria mad and this then lead to the 7 years war.

Between Great Britain and France, Great Britain wanted Frances land on North America (the diplomatic revolution), Britain ended up with a lot of Frances land (Canada and the land east of the Mississippi river), This leads to the American Revolution.
