Engineering Design Process (8 Steps)

The first step in the engineering design process is to select a need/problem to address.

To find an engineering design solution, you need to find out as much about the need/problem as you can.

Cooperate with others to come up with as many possible solutions as you can. These are ideas to try, not final solutions.

Which of your ideas do you want to try? Pick one, and plan how you want to try it.

This is a working model of your solution.

Your prototype probably won't be perfect the first time, but you should be on the right track. See what works and what doesn't.

Make changes to improve your prototype so that it better solves your problem.

When your prototype is the best it can be for now, you have designed a solution to your problem. Tell others how you did it!
