The main reason why racism rose in Italy was because it promised a strong, stable government and an end to the political feuding that has been taking place.

After ww1 Italy faced unemployment, a decline in trade, rising taxes, and a weak and divided government. These problems helped Mussolini win power because his campaign planned to change the problems presented which had great appeal to the citizens.

Mussolini wanted economic growth and an end to workplace conflicts. The steps he took to ensure this was that he put the economy under state control. He allowed business, labor, and government to control various economic activities. Also he made strikes illegal.

Two similarities between fascism and communism is that they both imposed totalitarian governments and both claimed to rule in the national interests. One difference between the two is that communists sought world revolution while fascists pursued nationalism. Another difference is that communist supporters were the urban working class while fascists supporters were business leaders, wealthy landowners, and the lower middle class.

When Mussolini said "machines and woman are the two main causes of unemployment", I think he meant that machines and woman have taken over mens' jobs. His policies believe that woman should stay home and be second hand to men.
