American music is a genre of art music that has had a large influence on the world. It encompasses many different styles, including folk, country, jazz, blues, bluegrass and rock. The roots of American music can be traced back to the early European settlers in North America and the African slaves who were brought over as part of the slave trade.Folk music was an important part of American life in colonial times and was heavily influenced by British and Irish immigrants. It often told stories about people’s lives or important events in their community. Traditional folk instruments included fiddles, banjos and dulcimers. Over time, this style began to evolve into what we now know as country music. Country artists such as Jimmie Rodgers and the Carter Family made it popular in the 1930s when they began recording songs for radio stations across America. This style eventually evolved into bluegrass which added more instruments like mandolins and dobros for a richer sound. Jazz emerged as a distinct genre in New Orleans at some point during the late 19th century when musical influences from both Europe (especially France) and Africa collided in this port city’s unique cultural mix. Jazz quickly spread across America thanks to early pioneers such as Louis Armstrong (who moved to Chicago) and Jelly Roll Morton (who moved to New York). Jazz cross-fertilized with swing bands during World War II which created big band sound that popularized this genre even further.. The blues is another major component of American music with its roots tracing back to African-American communities throughout the southern United States during the late 19th century up until modern times today. Blues often tells stories about pain or hardship but also celebrates joyous occasions like weddings or baptisms with upbeat tempos characteristic of ragtime piano playing combined with soulful vocals singing about love lost or found again.. Rock & roll is probably one of America’s most recognizable styles of music having been introduced by Elvis Presley in 1954 when he sang his first hit single That’s All Right Mama on Memphis’ WELO Radio Station (now KWAM). Rock & roll soon became hugely popular leading to many more genres being developed such as pop rock, hard rock heavy metal punk alternative rock etc., all drawing inspiration from traditional forms like country blues jazz etc., while adding their own unique twist onto them Overall American Music has had a huge impact on world culture over centuries going beyond just regional influence but becoming international phenomenon influencing cultures worldwide today.
