Slim is angry at Curley for bugging him about his wife, Carlson calls Curley a coward, Curley starts punching Lennie, who does nothing until George yells at Lennie to "get 'im." • Lennie grabs Curley's hand as it's coming toward his face, and crushes it completely

because he has done a "bad thing" and thinks George will no longer let him tend the rabbits but George reassures him all is okay.
