A theorem is a statement in mathematics that has been proven to be true based on previously established statements and accepted assumptions. Theorems are used to prove the truth of other statements, or to solve mathematical problems. Theorems are typically written as if-then” statements, with the “if” part being a hypothesis and the “then” part being a conclusion. An important property of theorems is that they can be used as building blocks for further proof. In other words, if we accept certain theorems as known facts, then those facts can be used to prove new results. This idea is fundamental in mathematics and it’s why mathematicians spend so much time proving theorems.
