Gatz was out helping someone of the richer class with their boat, as a huge storm was coming soon. When Gatz was asked his name, he replied Gatsby instead of Gatz. He might have wanted to sound like one of the crowd or possibly disassociate himself from his poor family. He was 17.

Although Daisy only had a good time while dancing with Gatsby, Nick tells Gatsby that she really enjoyed the party.

Gatsby wanst Daisy to tell Tom she never loved him, Gatsby wants to go back to where they were 5 years ago

Nick believed that Gatsby wanted his reality to be perfect, now that Daisy is back in his life, but he doesn't want to acknowledge the circumstances. He expects things to be how they were 5 years ago.

Both were self made business men who came from not so rich beginnings. It is ironic because Gatsby learns how to be "upper class" from a guy whose origins are distinctly "lower class, just like Gatsby.

Gatsby believed in the promise of his inheritance, yet, Dan Cody's mistress got it instead. This is just as Gatsby believed that he and Daisy would be together but she marries Tom instead.

He wasn't very truthful. When Fitzgerald finally tells us these true things, it shows how much Gatsby was really straying away from his beginnings and trying to embody wealth.

Gatsby wanted Tom to be intimidated by him and it angers him when Tom sees Gatsby as not a true wealthy, classy man, but just a man with a lot of money. Tom is not intimidated by anyone.

It is full of West Eggers who they find less sophisticated.

He measures its success by how much Daisy enjoys it.

I believe that you can do your best to duplicate something from the past, but it will not be exactly as it was before. People and situations constantly change.
