question
Pillar program
answer
The society has designed the "Pillar program," which are the five best practices for the chapter to be successful and they all are. Most of them involve basic communication with the chapter leaders and the national office, both of which I already do weekly with my Program Director and Executive Board. For achieving this, we will get $1,400 off the $2,800 chapter due, and we are collecting dues during the free program year to go towards Year 2. After the first year, there are other "best practices" that open up, where we can get up to $2,200 off the chapter dues.
question
First year dues
answer
The 1st Year of annual dues have been covered by the Society. It is free for our campus to pilot the program and we can discontinue the program at any time. EARN FUNDS BACK- Next, the Chapters also receive funding from the Society. Our chapter receives $5 for every student that joins and an additional $5 for every student that is inducted. These funds can be used to pay for the chapter dues, as well as other programming expenses. Chapters can use that money back as they see fit such as the induction ceremony, or to take students to a regional conference. The average size chapter is 100-300 members. With the pillar program and the funds we receive back from the Society we should be able to cover the dues. This is how the majority of schools pay for their program.
question
Student president Role
answer
I will be working as the student president for the organization; my main responsibilities are to establish and govern a Society Chapter on my campus, find an executive board, get sponsorship by a department or registered as a student organization, work with the sponsoring department and National Office to invite students to join, and schedule events and run events.
question
Advisor Role
answer
The main responsibility is to serve as my mentor and oversee the chapter. Ensure that the chapter operates within the guidelines and principles of the institution. The most important duty of the advisor is to work with the National Office to invite students to participate. The time commitment to serve as an advisor is a minimum of 4 hours per month, that is less than 1 hour per week to meet with me, answer emails etc... A final duty would be getting to review, comment and approve the Success Network Team Goals that the student members will submit online.
