Definition: The frequent repetition of an act, to the extent that it becomes characteristic of the group of people performing the act. Example: Americans wearing Jeans Application: People are identified by customs, thus they are important in keeping true to a society

Definition: Culture traditionally practiced by a small, homogeneous, rural group living in relative isolation from other groups. Example: A tribe in Africa might sing certain songs reflecting their lifestyle-or they might use certain materials to build their infrastructure based off of their immediate surroundings Application:Folk Culture is what allows for cultural diversity in the world--if everyone were to follow POP culture, it would be super dull.

Definition: A repetitive act performed by a particular individual. Example: Brushing Teeth in the Morning Application: A habit is hard to break and can tell a person a lot about another.

Definition: Culture found in a large, heterogeneous society that shares certain habits despite differences in other personal characteristics. Example: Hip-hop; Blue jeans--> originated as a tough pair of pants to give gold miners durability Application: Pop culture defines the main areas of the world and tells us what that society values.

Definition: A restriction on behavior imposed by social custom. Example: Chinese people eating Bull testicles for sexual stamina Application: Taboos tell us quite a bit about the origins/root of culture in an area.

Definition: The contribution of a location's distinctive physical features to the way food tastes. Application: Lobster in MASS Application: Physical features directly impact how food tastes--Something grown in Asia will taste differently than that same thing grown in Mexico.
